The Flower Girl’s Look Book

As lockdown restrictions ease further this month, couples waiting to get married are now able to tie the knot in front of up to 30 guests. Which means that wedding season can well and truly get underway.

One of the most important parts of any wedding is the bridal party. The youngest (and cutest!) of which is the flower girl. Having little ones shower the bride’s path with flowers is a custom that dates back to Roman times. And like most things wedding related, come with their own ‘dos and don’ts’. Including what they should wear. Here’s our run down of everything you need to know so you can decide if you want to stick with tradition or do things your own way!

The Dress

Flower girls are meant to represent the bride’s journey from a child into adulthood. Which is why they walk down the aisle before the bride to symbolise this transformation. It’s also why the flower girl’s dress is a miniature version of the bridal gown. So, if your dress is ivory for example, tradition dictates that your flower girl’s dress should be too.

But this only applies to the colour and not the style which can be as different as you like. You might want to pick a style that matches your wedding theme. If you’re having a formal wedding, you might want to go for a big, poufy ballgown. Or a more relaxed A-line if lowkey is more your vibe.

But hey, rules are made to be broken! If you want your flower girl to wear something different entirely then go for it. It’s your day after all!

The Shoes

Pick shoes that are as comfortable and effortless as possible. Ballet shoes or anything with Velcro straps are perfect. Because let’s face it, all the kids will soon be running around the dancefloor in their socks at the reception!

The Jewellery

With flower girls typically being under the age of 8, a cute pair of stud earrings are your best bet when it comes to jewellery. Again, try to match the metal colour to what the rest of your bridal party is wearing. Or you could go for something like our twinning sets which allow little ones to wear cute miniature versions of your adult studs.

We also have lots of sparkly hypoallergenic earrings that are perfect for little ears. Including a variety of CZ studs and titanium studs with coloured gemstones that are sure to make your flower girl feel like a princess. Our stainless-steel earrings also come in lots of classic shapes like hearts, doves and horseshoes which are perfect for traditional weddings.

Or for something a little different, we have lots of unique children’s earrings like animals and rainbows that will put a smile on your guests’ faces. We particularly love our fairy studs complete with small pink gemstones. They’re guaranteed to bring a bit of magic to your flower girl’s day. The fact they’re also allergy free makes them perfect for sensitive ears too.
