Be Inspired by These 5 Iconic Red-Carpet Looks

The world’s most glamorous awards show is back this weekend, and we can’t wait to see some showstopping looks hit the red carpet. And with this year's Academy Awards still set to go ahead in person, you can bet Hollywood’s A-listers will be serving us some of their most dramatic looks yet.

To celebrate the hottest date on both the film and women’s fashion calendar, we’re bringing you a bit of back-tie inspiration lifted straight from the most iconic Oscars dresses (and suits!) of all time. So, you’re in the right place if you need a bit of inspo for all the weddings that are about to hit later this year. Or maybe you just want to glam it up at home! Either way, we’ve got you covered.

The One-Should Fitted Dress

The figure hugging, bodycon dress is an absolute Oscars staple. In past years they’ve been rocked by the likes of Renee Zellweger and Hillary Swank and you can be sure they’ll be making a return for the awards show’s 23rd edition.

From plunging backlines to spaghetti straps, there are lots of different bodycon styles you can choose from. But the one that’s worthy of an Oscar is the one-shoulder neckline paired with a single long sleeve. These dresses already leave a big impression so go easy on the jewellery. A simple pair of sparkly stud earrings will do the trick.

The Princess Dress

Fairytale inspired dresses are another red-carpet favourite. Think strapless ballgowns with big puffball or flowing skirts. It’s not always an easy look to pull off but Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams and Jennifer Aniston have all done it.

This feminine style is best complimented with equally elegant jewellery. We’re talking statement necklaces and chic drop earrings. Both our Teardrop and Daisy Drop Hypoallergenic Earrings would look fab.

The Cape Sleeve Dress

This one’s not easy to find on the high-street but that’s great if you really want to standout. These long flowing dresses are cut with floor length capes that act as open sleeves over your arms. Gwyneth Paltrow wore her iconic white cape dress back in 2012. But they really came into their own last year with Natalie Portman, Brie Larson and Olivia Colman all attending the awards wearing capes.

The Backless Dress

The Oscars are a classy occasion but plenty of celebs still manage to show off a cheeky bit of skin with the backless dress. It would be easier for us to list who hasn’t rocked one of these babies at some point, but Charlize Theron and Rachel McAdams both provided unforgettable fashion moments in theirs. Again, much of the focus should be on the dress itself so team with simple yet effective hoop earrings

The Trouser Suit

The trouser suit is the Oscar outfit of choice for risk-takers and rebels. If you’re someone who likes to break the mould and do things their own way you’ll be in the fierce company of Angelina Jolie, Jane Fonda and Diana Ross.

Be just as bold with your jewellery by going for tougher choices like huggie hoops or ear cuffs. We have lots of both styles available in our range of stainless-steel earrings. And the fact that they’re all allergy free makes them perfect for anyone with sensitive ears too.
