5 self care tips we practise
It's normal (in this abnormal time) to forget to take care of both your body and mind. We've compiled a shortlist of a few simple self-care tips that you can implement into your daily routine to start looking and feeling better.
Exercise
Exercise may be the last thing that you feel like doing at the moment, but taking the time to go for a run or even a quick walk around your neighbourhood can do wonders for relieving feelings of stress and anxiety. Exercise releases endorphins, which is a chemical released by the brain to make you feel good. You don't have to do anything too strenuous, but putting 15 minutes aside to do some yoga or venture outside for some fresh air is an excellent way to help clear your mind.
Get enough sleep
The amount of sleep you get can have a profound effect on how you feel physically and emotionally. Not getting an adequate amount of sleep can lead to serious health issues, so if you're finding it difficult to drift off, start by putting some time aside to establish a nightly routine. Avoid consuming sugar or caffeine before you go to bed and try not to look at any screens such as your phone or laptop for at least an hour before you go to bed.
Get organised
Making small changes to become more organised can give your mind the freedom to figure out exactly what you need to accomplish to take better care of yourself. Keeping a planner or calendar in plain sight can help you visualise your upcoming appointments and responsibilities so that you know exactly which tasks you need to complete so you can set aside time to relax.
Complete simple tasks first
Life can become overwhelming at times, and when you have a long list of tasks to take care of, it can seem impossible to get anything done. Completing simple tasks in the morning can set you on the right track for the rest of the day so that you can remain productive while working your way up to facing more complicated challenges.
Make small changes
One of the best ways to lift yourself out of a slump is to make small changes that make a big difference. Whether it's investing in a new top, some new makeup or even a new pair of earrings that complement your unique style, these little acts of self-love can help refresh the way you see yourself.
